Disaster Assistance Deadline Extended

The office of Governor Chet Culver has been notified that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has granted a request to extend the registration period for disaster assistance. The registration period had been scheduled to end on October 13.
Iowans in 35 counties now have until Nov. 12 to register for Individual Assistance, which can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of flooding and severe weather that occurred this past summer.

“The continued volume of registrations indicates impacted Iowans are still assessing their damages and need additional time to apply for aid to help them in their recovery,” said Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management’s Pat Hall, who is also serving as the state coordinating officer for this disaster.

The counties included in the registration extension are: Appanoose, Black Hawk, Cherokee, Clayton, Decatur, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Franklin, Hamilton, Howard, Humboldt, Ida, Jackson, Jasper, Jones, Kossuth, Lee, Lucas, Lyon, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, O’Brien, Osceola, Polk, Ringgold, Sioux, Story, Taylor, Union, Wapello, Warren, Webster, and Wright.
Homeowners, renters or business owners affected by the storms should register for assistance by calling FEMA’s toll-free number, 800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 800-462-7585 for the speech- and hearing-impaired 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week until further notice. Multilingual operators are available to answer calls during this time. Flood survivors may register for assistance online anytime at www.disasterassistance.gov.

Ominous Heads Up-Last Week Of October Into November

Attention all Law Enforcement Personnel --Please e-mail me at info@stevequayle.com if you have any additional info for verification on this time, period or if you are observing any "UNUSUAL EVENTS'' happening in your Departments or Units. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES LEAVE YOUR FAMILIES FOR OUT OF STATE DEPLOYMENT, LEAVING YOUR FAMILIES IN A POTENTIAL HOSTAGE SITUATION TO BE USED AGAINST YOU AS THEY ARE PICKED UP FOR "THEIR SAFETY" —Steve Quayle

October 11, 2010
By "C"

I had dinner three nights ago with a group of local Republicans who hosted a candidate for state senate here in Oklahoma. One of the attendees was a US Marshal. He had been on for over 25 years and after finding that I was a retired Tulsa PD officer, said that the Marshal's service had an order that he had never seen or heard of. None of the guys he worked with had ever seen such an order.

Basically hundreds of US Marshals are being ordered to "in service training" in another state (can't remember if he said Iowa, Indiana or another state in that area), and when they get there, they would have to turn in their issue firearms! It (the "in service") is to be for a two week (or longer) period, and will start just before the November election. He said "what in the hell is going on? We NEVER surrender our guns when we go someplace, and especially in-service training. We have asked about that and have received no answers from the brass. We're all very uncomfortable about this. Also, we have not been told when we will be able to come back home."

I told him that my old boss and I had wargamed a scenario like this wherein the officers on my department could easily be disarmed by simply calling the shifts in one at a time for "in-service training" or a "briefing" for a day, and then being told to turn in our pistols and shotguns for "safety checks". Once disarmed, we would be loaded on buses and then taken wherever the powers that be wanted to stash us (or get rid of us). We know that local and state police are not termed "reliable" by the NWO crowd and D.C. bureaucrats. I now wonder if they have determined they can't trust their own agents as well in case of martial law? (Of all the guys I polled on my department ten years ago none said they would enforce illegal or unconstitutional martial law unless it had to do with natural disasters such as tornados, floods etc.)

Next: A good friend lives in a upper class neighborhood where two of his neighbors are FBI agents. One has recently retired. He called me yesterday and said "something is up. The FBI agent that lives next door to me parked his vehicle in his driveway two months ago, and I have not seen him or his family since. They simply disappeared. Someone is mowing the lawn and picking up the mail, but they have vanished. Also, the retired guy has been gone for over four weeks now. Any idea what's going on?"

As an old intel type, I'd say that when we put the pieces of the puzzle on the wall it begins to form a dire picture.

Any ideas? Any similar incidents you know of in your area?

Arizona Border Sheriff: Obama Should Visit Grave of Murdered Rancher

Sheriff Larry Dever of Cochise County, Ariz., which sits on the U.S.-Mexico border, says if President Barack Obama were to visit that county he would like to take him to visit the grave of rancher Robert Krentz who was shot and killed on his own property in March by an attacker who fled south on foot into Mexico.
The attacker shot both Krentz and his dog after Krentz had radioed his brother to tell him he saw an immigrant who appeared to be in trouble and that his brother should notify the Border Patrol.
“I’d take him to Rob Krentz’s gravesite,” Dever told CNSNews.com, following his appearance at an event earlier this month at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. “That’s where I’d take him.”
Krentz, who was 58 years old, was a prominent cattleman in Cochise County whose family had operated a ranch in the region for three generations.
After Krentz's dead body was found in his all-terrain vehicle about 1,000 feet from where he and his dog had been shot, Cochise County sheriff's office deputies, Border Patrol agents and dogs tracked a set of footprints 20 miles south from the scene of the murder to the Mexican border.
CNSNews.com asked Dever what he would show Obama if he could give the president a tour of Cochise County, a visit the sheriff said should be more than fleeting if the president wants to truly understand what is going on at the border.
“Come spend two or three days and camp out with one of my ranchers out in the areas where we’re getting hammered, and spend some time there,” Dever said. “When you’re trying to go to bed at night and things start going bump and you know that stuff is moving – that’s how you experience it.”
Dever said he also would show Obama the evidence of the high traffic flow along the U.S. and Mexico border in Arizona.
“Then I’d take him to the trash sites – the lay-up areas – where people just leave tons of garbage and human waste,” Dever said. “I’d take him and I’d show him the trails that come across the border that are as wide as a road and three feet deep from the incessant foot traffic going across.
“And then I’d take him to Rob Krentz’s gravesite,” Dever said. “That’s where I’d take him.”

Bernanke sees case for more Federal Reserve easing

BOSTON (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on Friday offered his most explicit signal yet that the U.S. central bank was set to ease monetary policy further, but provided no details on how aggressively it might act.
Bernanke warned a prolonged period of high unemployment could choke off the U.S. recovery and that the low level of inflation presented an uncomfortable risk of deflation, a dangerous downward slide in prices.
"There would appear -- all else being equal -- to be a case for further action," Bernanke said at a conference sponsored by the Boston Federal Reserve Bank.
With overnight interest rates already close to zero, many economists expect the Fed to launch a fresh round of bond purchases, perhaps on the order of $500 billion, to push borrowing costs lower at its next policy meeting on November 2-3.
Prices for longer-dated U.S. government debt fell after Bernanke's remarks as investors bet the Fed would be successful in generating more inflation. Stocks were mixed while the dollar briefly hit an eight-month low against the euro.
Bernanke said the central bank could bolster its economy and inflation-lifting efforts by indicating a willingness to hold interest rates low for longer than currently expected.
The Fed pushed overnight rates to zero in December 2008 and then bought $1.7 trillion in U.S. government and mortgage-linked bonds to offer more support for the economy.
Officials have said further asset buying, or quantitative easing, would be the course they would most likely pursue to spur a stronger recovery.
Bernanke indicated Fed policymakers were still weighing how aggressive they should be, leaving markets to guess as to the details of any operation.
"The only question left is the size and scope of QE," said Boris Schlossberg of GFT Forex in New York.
STILL WEIGHING THE COSTS
Bernanke said that while the central bank has the tools to ease policy further, it still needed to proceed cautiously.
"Nonconventional policies have costs and limitations that must be taken into account in judging whether and how aggressively they should be used," he said.
The Fed's easy monetary policy, which pushed the dollar to a 10-month low against a broad basket of currencies on Friday before the greenback reversed course, has drawn the ire of emerging market economies contending with a flood of capital as investors chase higher yields.
Many countries, worried about weak exports as well as potential asset bubbles, have taken steps to temper the rise in their currencies, sparking fears of a series of competing devaluations.
Even though the deep U.S. recession ended in June 2009, unemployment still hovers at a lofty 9.6 percent, and Bernanke noted that core inflation, as measured by the Fed's favorite gauge, has risen at just a 1.1 percent annual rate this year.
He emphasized that Fed officials would like to see inflation at about 2 percent or a bit below.
The government said on Friday that the core consumer price index, a better-known inflation gauge, had risen just 0.8 percent over the 12 months through September, the smallest annual gain since 1961.
At the Fed's last policy-setting meeting on September 21, officials debated the possibility of introducing an explicit inflation target and other ways in which they could lift inflation expectations to spur economic activity.
Bernanke made clear that a shift in communications policy could be a powerful tool in helping to ease financial conditions, and said the Fed could use its post-meeting statements to convince markets rates are going to stay low for longer than they currently expect.
